The Dems also took the House, and results of the Senatorial elections are still being counted (you don't say).

- Lauren Elkin is a PhD candidate in English literature at the Université de Paris VII and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Originally from New York, she has lived in Paris on and off since 1999 and continuously since 2004. I'll pretend right along with you that I know much ado about politics. I did vote, though. I'm happy about the shift in the House, crossing my fingers about a shift in the Senate, and clapping my hands that Maryland, once again, proved itself to be a Democrat state.
I'm going to make a broad, sweeping generalization and say that US citizens are tired of the Iraq debacle, among other things.
