I have been cast in an amateur production of "Fame."
This has been a weird couple of weeks.
First rehearsal is tomorrow. Am undecided if I will stick with it. How much do I really want to know about the world of community theatre in Paris...
Then again, I suppose it's more productive than crying for hours or watching American television on iTunes.

You got it! That's great! Let us know when the big show is :)
Oh god, I love Fame. I'm so mad I'm not in Paris. Who do you get to be?
(And I did see some decent amateur theatre in Paris, pas mal, pas mal du tout.)
I'm gonna live forever! I'm gonna learn how to fly... FAME!
You go girl. I love that musical. I directed it not too long ago. Fun show and all dance. Hope the choreographer rocks otherwise the show will be merde. Which role?
Which role?? Which role?? Will you be the Irene Cara role - cocky, determined (and partially nude in the photography scene!), or the once-timid jewish singer whose transformation culminates in Singing the Body Electric in the finale??
Fame, you may have guessed, was on French TV last month. I may have watched it (twice)...
Congratulations!
Oh definitely do it!!! What could be more of an upper than FAME and a Frenchie version too. Who is that woman director who makes film about Fr. community productions and all the shenigans that go on..? I think of her. But yr lovely voice will get a chance to sing out! How bad can that be Lauren? Getting out of the house always helps IMO when yr feeling down.

(I should be working..:)
Ooh, congratulations! (How do you say congratulations in French?) Anyway, it's good to see that some things are picking up. Go, girl.

Yeah, I'm going to stick with it... when else can I dance around to 80s music singing at the top of my lungs and have people actually pay to see me do it?
As for the part I play-- well, the show is a "revue corrigé," which means they didn't want to pay for the rights to do the actual show, and so they've adapted and translated it into French. My character is a classically-trained singer who wants to transition to theatre. And yes, she'll be pretty cocky.
I need to rent the movie, I haven't seen it since I was a wee lass...
